Description:
Intermediate, hilly. Moderate traffic on Niles Canyon.
Light traffic on scenic Calaveras Road.
38 miles with 2,200 feet climbing

Directions to Ride Start:
Fremont - Bike path staging area on Old Canyon Road just East of Mission Blvd.

2/27, 7:00am update = Starting time changed to 10:00am to avoid morning rain. Cross the Golden Gate Bridge and enjoy various loops:

  • Route 1: Marin Headlands & Paradise Dr Loop- 48 miles with 2,580 feet climbing.
  • Route 2: Paradise Dr Loop without Headlands- 42 miles with1,840 feet climbing.
  • Route 3: Tiburon and return- 35 miles with 1,200 feet climbing.
  • Route 4: Out & Back to end of bike path at Richardson Bay- 18 miles with 600 feet climbing.

Winter rule: Check this website after 7:00am on day of ride to see if canceled due to rain.
Directions to starting point via MapQuest: Sports Basement, 610 Mason Street, SF. Go to beach access parking near the bathroom building with wind sock.

2/13/10, 7:00am status report = Green/Go riding, zzz ya dare. Start and end at the Orinda BART parking lot.

Route A: Full loop is 49 miles with 3,700 feet of climbing (Lunch in Crockett)

Route B: Several shorter routes are available (refer to the route map).  Just the 3-Bears loop = 25 miles with 1,800 feet climbing.

It is GO! San Jose: 2 Reservoir Loops

2/20, 7:00am status report = The ride is on.  Weather reports show no rain. zzz ya dare, Jer. Two route options.  Meet at Bill & Gail’s house in San Jose.  Ride starts a 9:00am.  After the ride, a 2-block walk to the local Mexican restaurant for lunch.

Route A: 30 miles with 1,500 feet of climbing.  Check out Gail’s Garmin ride/map info.

Route B: 45 miles with 2,000+ feet of climbing.  Includes a coffee/bakery break.
