Bayside Trial ride and social (Actual Cafe, Oakland)

The ACTUAL CAFE (6334 San Pablo Ave, Oakland) will show the premier of the 2010 California Coast Classic DVD somewhere around 6:00pm.  Gather at the Actual Cafe around 5:00pm and we will order off of their menu for our post ride meal.

For those that are planning to do an easy ride prior to the social event:

3:00pm- Find parking somewhere in the vicinity of the Actual Cafe.  I will lead a local ride to the Bay Side Trail. We will return around 5:00pm to join others at the Actual Cafe.  Note: There is indoor bicycle parking inside the cafe.


CANCELED! Crissy Field (SF)- Various Marin loops including Alpine Dam

Bummer… ride canceled due to predicted rain all day. To be rescheduled for Saturday, June 18th. (posted 9:10pm on 6/3/11)

1. Rain is in the forecast (bummer).  Check the website Saturday morning at 7:00am to see if ride is canceled.
2. West side of GGB closed for four months.  Us cyclists need to co-mingle with the pedestrians on the East side (oh joy!).

Cross the Golden Gate Bridge and enjoy various loops:

  • Route 1: Marin Headlands & Paradise Dr Loop- 48 miles with 2,580 feet climbing.
  • Route 2: Paradise Dr Loop without Headlands- 42 miles with1,840 feet climbing.
  • Route 3: Tiburon and return- 35 miles with 1,200 feet climbing.
  • Route 4: Out & Back to end of bike path at Richardson Bay- 18 miles with 600 feet climbing.
  • Route 5: The Alpine Dam loop (featuring the 7 Itch-Bays). This is the clockwise direction. Start/end at Crissy Field, SF.
    Route A: 53 miles with 3,900 feet of climbing. (add Mt. Tam summit: add 6 miles and 800 ft) Lunch stop in Fairfax after the climbing!

Directions to starting point via MapQuest: Sports Basement, 610 Mason Street, SF. But, go to beach access parking near the bathroom building with wind sock.

Directions to the new starting point:
a. Either direction on 680, take the Berryesa East exit (towards the hills), then step b.
More info: South 880, take 237 East to 680, South on 680, then go to step a.
>From Peninsula: South 101, take 237 East to 680, South on 680, then go to step a.
>From San Jose- you’re on your own.
b. On Berryesa, continue East/straight.
c. Look for Berryessa Community Center on right at 3050 Berryessa Rd, San Jose.
d. Right into Parking area- bathrooms, water available in Community Center.
