China Camp State Park (San Rafael) was selected for the 2010 New Years Day Annual Mountain Bike Adventure. We had such a fun time that we elected to repeat this adventure. So, for the first day of spring… it’s a do over.
At popular request, a 25-30 mile road ride has been added to this event. Same start location and time (9:30am). Map to be added by Thursday 3/18). Stay for the pot luck BBQ.
On New Years Day, we took some false routes and we did some pretty steep stuff but we have seen the errors-of-our-ways and now know the complete fun route. This bike/hike will be followed by pot luck BBQ (details to be shared as riders/hikers respond) One loop = 12+ miles with 1,400 feet of easy climbing. Please RSVP if you plan on participating (dakruser@pacbell.net).
Directions to park: Four miles east of San Rafael on the shore of San Pablo Bay. From Highway 101, go east on North San Pedro Road for five miles until it enters the park. Continue on road and park at Bullhead Flats picnic area ($5.00 parking fee) MapQuest link. Link to park website.

An out-and-back, non-technical mountain bike adventure from Mill Valley to the Mt. Tamalpais summit. Mostly fire trail with a few paved roads. Many majestic views of the Bay Area.
Round trip to West Point Inn = 12 miles with 1,600 feet of climbing. Water, bathrooms, snacks available at the Inn.
Add 4 miles and 800+ feet of climbing to reach East Peak (summit). Water, bathrooms, snacks available at summit.
Add ? miles for fun side trips to Middle Peak and where ever.
Lunch after ride in Mill Valley.
Directions to staging area from either direction on HWY 101 in Marin County:
1. In Mill Valley area- take East Blithedale to Mill Valley.
2. Continue straight as it turns into West Blithedale. About 1 mile, look for off-road parking on the right. If you pass a gate marking the fire trail, you have gone too far.
