Livermore: 2 loops via Patterson Pass

Two road loops starting in Livermore.Light traffic. Can be very windy. Minimum services (water, bathrooms, food).

Route 1: Patterson Pass/Altamont Pass- 32.5 miles with 2,200 feet of climbing.

Route 2: Patterson Pass/Corral Hollow- 43 miles with 2,630 feet of climbing.

Starting point is in the parking lot at shopping center with Emil Villa’s restaurant- 3064 Pacific Ave, Livermore.  Take Livermore Ave exit off of 580 Freeway.  Here is the mapQuest link to the parking lot.

MTN Bike: Old Railroad Grade Mt Tam

An out-and-back, non-technical mountain bike adventure from Mill Valley to the Mt. Tamalpais summit.  Mostly fire trail with a few paved roads. Many majestic views of the Bay Area.

Round trip to West Point Inn = 12 miles with 1,600 feet of climbing.  Water, bathrooms, snacks available at the Inn.
Add 4 miles and 800+ feet of climbing to reach East Peak (summit). Water, bathrooms, snacks available at summit.
Add ? miles for fun side trips to Middle Peak and where ever.
Lunch after ride in Mill Valley.

Directions to staging area from either direction on HWY 101 in Marin County:

1. In Mill Valley area- take East Blithedale to Mill Valley.

2. Continue straight as it turns into West Blithedale.  About 1 mile, look for off-road parking on the right.  If you pass a gate marking the fire trail, you have gone too far.

Hayward Health Ride (Home/Sunol Loop)

Not to be confused with the Markleyville Death Ride.

Start/end at 2659 Home Ave, Hayward.

Route A: 43.2 miles with 3,693 feet of climbing.

Route B: 24 miles with 900 feet climbing. (Route map yet to be posted)


Castro Valley: Zoo Loop + two longer options

Route Options:  (Route maps for routes A and B to be available March 2009)

Route A: Castro Valley/Redwood Road/Pinehurst/Wildcat Canyon/return- 53 miles with 4,390 feet climbing.                                                                                                                                                                                        Route B: Castro Valley/Redwood Road/Pinehurst/Skyline north to Grizzly Peak/return- 38 miles with 3,290 feet climbing.
Route C: Castro Valley/Redwood Road/Return at Skyline.  Intermediate, hilly. AKA: Almost the 2nd half of the Grizzly Peak Century) 26.6 miles with 2,320 feet climbing.

Directions to Ride Start:
Valley Car Wash in Castro Valley @ Redwood Road & Village Dr.
MapQuest / GPS: go to Peet’s Coffee at 20453 Redwood Road, Castro Valley.
BART friendly (Castro Valley Station)   Car wash is in back of Peet’s.

Los Gatos/Capitola/Mt. Charlie Loop

Annual Los Gatos/Santa Cruz/Capitola/Mt. Charlie Adventure…Starts at 8:00am.
Route A: Starting at beyond Dam parking area-53 miles with 4,100 feet of climbing. The reward = a wonderful lunch at Gayle’s Bakery/Deli!
Route B ??? turnback when ever, where ever.

Meet at Alma Bridge Road parking area-
Directions to the ‘beyond the Dam’ parking:
Continue West on Highway 17 past Highway 9 exits.Take Bear Creek exit, cross over Highway 17 and then return East on Highway 17.
Take next exit (Alma Bridge Road), follow signs to Dam… drive beyond dam and park at paved parking area on right side of Alma Bridge Road (outhouses available).
