Mt. Bike Adventure at Redwood Regional Park (Oakland)

A great Mt. Bike adventure in the Oakland hills.

Meet at the Skyline Gate Staging Area of the Redwood Regional Park.

Our route: ccw, 10.6 miles with 1,320 feet of climbing.

Skyline Gate is about 1/4 mile North of Carisbrook Dr on Skyline Blvd.

Lake Chabot Mt. Biking (AKA: Dark-in-da-Park)

Weekly mountain bike rides at Lake Chabot Regional Park, Castro Valley. Evening rides begin at 6:30pm in the parking lot across from the Regional Parks Headquarters. Usual route is counter-clockwise: 13.2 miles with 1,500 feet of climbing. During the summer, if we start at 6:30pm, we get back before dark. Bring your bike light and/or helmet lights just in case.

Pleasanton BART/Calaveras Loop

Description:
Easy - Intermediate.
Starting and ending at Dublin/Pleasanton BART this ride goes south through Pleasanton to Calavares, mostly low traffic roads. Turn-around point is the first summit (large dirt road pull out). Return is slightly different - end back at BART.

Description:
Advanced, lots of climbing, 2+ water bottles.
Avoid riding in hot weather.
See shorter options.

Directions to Ride Start:
Livermore - Across from old library.
MapQuest: S Livermore Ave & Pacific Ave, Livermore.
Parking on street after Pacific Ave. Use bathrooms at gas station after 580.

Route 2: Patterson Pass/Corral Hollow- 44 miles with 2,500 feet climbing.

Crissy Field (SF) & various Marin Loops

Cross the Golden Gate Bridge and enjoy various loops:

  • Route 1: Marin Headlands & Paradise Dr Loop- 48 miles with 2,580 feet climbing.
  • Route 2: Paradise Dr Loop without Headlands- 42 miles with1,840 feet climbing.
  • Route 3: Tiburon and return- 35 miles with 1,200 feet climbing.
  • Route 4: Out & Back to end of bike path at Richardson Bay- 18 miles with 600 feet climbing.

Directions to starting point via MapQuest: Sports Basement, 610 Mason Street, SF. Go to beach access parking near the bathroom building with wind sock.
